Journal Entry 001

Its been a quiet week since the very, very busy one I had last week, and while peace is enjoyable, it is most certainly not productive.

Since the streets have not been swarming with Xehanort's- excuse me, Ansem's- men out for my blood, I can assume Isaak has not decided to betray me as of yet. I've not doubt he will in the future, but right now, his aid is more valuable than my safety.

No word from Seth or Kyouya since our last meeting either, but I'm sure that the nobles of Rabanastre have far better things to do with their time than discuss things with a humble shopkeep. I haven't seen that young man Kuja around either, which is a pity. I'm sure he's found out the Honeybee Inn's true nature by now...

It's too quiet lately. The IPF is trying to be as discreet as possible while being as present as possible- quite a conundrum, really. They're planning something... likely another recruitment raid.

Good scientists don't need ambition, but they need an eternal thirst to know. Xehanort hasn't learned that sometimes that thirst shouldn't be quenched, it seems.

There's nothing I can do if the Abonists launch a recruitment raid, and I most certainly am not willingly to risk myself in an attempt to free the poor souls they capture.

Perhaps there are other ways, however... I shall look into the matter further.

Letter #1 To Seth Knighlord

Dearest Seth,

Well now, it's been quite a bit since we last spoke in person, hasn't it? I do hope everything has been alright on your end, oh Mistress of the Vampire Court.

Or maybe right now you're "just Seth", that pretty little girl selling tea around the corner.

Oh, the lies and lives we lead, hmm?

Anyhow, I was wondering if you'd yet noticed the sudden influx of arrivals in Rabanastre- naturally, I'll bet you've sunk your teeth into at least one or two, hmmm? Metaphorically, of course.

Why so many arrivals, I wonder? It's quite a curious thing, isn't it? And why now?

I don't think Xehanort-excuse me, "King Ansem"- will have noticed them quite just yet- he always was a little slow on the uptake. Compared to me, anyway.

Your humble shopkeeper,

-Urahara
